Couches For Afghans is a nonprofit corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes as an all-volunteer run organization, supported entirely by donations and fundraisers.

Our volunteers foster, transport, and in many other ways assist in this rehoming/rescue effort. We are dedicated to reducing overpopulation, abuse and neglect of Afghan Hounds.

Our mission is to rehome, rescue, rehabilitate, and place homeless Afghan Hounds and mentor current owners and educate the public on this breed. We are registered non-profit LLC with the State of Colorado and have received our IRS 501c(3) status.

Vision Statement
• Rehome Afghan Hounds across the United States and Canada, and/or wherever we are needed. We work with breeders and owners who for some reason cannot keep their dogs.
• Mentor Afghan Hound owners in areas they may need help in (training, grooming, behavior), with the primary goal of securing and keeping the placement for the dogs.
• Assist Afghan Hound owners with financial and or other assistance in short-term situations where it may be possible to keep the fur & skin family together depending on the needs. This assistance would range from medical needs for the dog and or financial needs for the owners.
• Educate the general public about this exotic breed, therefore encouraging responsible ownership.
• Serve as rescue coordinators as needed.

Our goal is to help place Afghan Hounds in homes with an empty couch and an open heart.
